SERVICES OFFERED

EDUCATION
Education is important to create a responsible citizen. AWSAR works for quality education through workshops and training sessions with children.

After school support centres

Beside the organization of meeting and training programmes for parents AWSAR is also running after school learning centres in 3 villages of Dankaur block of Gautam Budh Nagar district. After School Learning centres caters to the educational and recreational needs of children studying upto standard 8th.

Early Childhood Development and Education
A pre school child care and education centre is also being run in Dankaur where 18 – 20 children are provided with education and care. This pre school education centre was started after looking at the dysfunctional condition of ICDS centre in Dankaur. Special attention has been given to children belonging to disadvantaged sections of society including minorities in all the 3 selected villages.

Vocational Training Centre
Vocational Training Centre (Cutting and Tailoring) in each of the 3 villages of Dankaur Block of Gautam Budh Nagar was started where adolescent girls were trained in cutting, tailoring and stitching of women and children wear. Approximately 40 adolescent girls were trained during the first batch of the course in all the 3 villages.

Health
A healthy society is the backbone of any economy. As it is said rightly that “Health is the Wealth” AWSAR-INDIA fosters environment for good health of people through awareness generating activities and programmes focusing on sanitation, nutrition, exercises, stress management etc. The prime focus of our health programmes is on primary community health and the target groups are children, pregnant and lactating women and old age people.
 
People with disability are the most marginalized section of the society. AWSAR sensitizes people about the rights and potentials of people with disability. It facilitates a society where people take extra effort to bring people with disability in equity with others. AWSAR is also working towards sensitizing parents especially pregnant women to undergo thorough check up to prevent disability among the infants and providing referral services to people.

Youth Development

AWSAR has also been actively involved with the development of adolescent and youths. It has been running informative and recreational programmes for their physical and cognitive development.

They are also being guided by the trained counselors in all kinds of psycho-social problems. Career counseling has also been a major area of thrust in the growth and development of youths. The youths are also being involved in voluntary works which is helping them in their overall personality development

AWSAR-INDIA runs a counseling centre in Dankaur Urban for women and adolescents girls. Career counseling drives are also organized just after the result of 10 standard for students.  

 

Awareness Generation and Information Dissemination

Since its inception AWSAR has emphasized upon developing aware and responsible citizen. AWSAR has been successful in generating awareness on health, hygiene and sanitation in the villages among the children attending the learning centres and their parents.

In the year 2007, meetings were organized to make people aware on the Right to Information Act. People were helped in drafting the right to information applications for seeking the information. Awareness camps are also organized on disseminating information on various government welfare schemes.

Women Empowerment

AWSAR has been playing an important role in bringing positive change in the lives of rural women by working on the issues of their concern like domestic violence, livelihood generation and health problems. AWSAR has formed Mahila Mandals in the project area and these women groups are working as the pressure groups on Panchayats and local administration. Beside this these groups are engaged in livelihood generation by patch work given by the Garment Export houses.

Kisaan Sahayata Kendra

Kisaan Sahayata Kendra (Farmers Support Centre) was also started with the help of students of agriculture engineering. Farmers of Bhatta, Parsaul and Usmanpur villages were oriented on advance and modern technologies available to farmers. They were also trained in management of paddy pest with locally available resources. Information was also disseminated on Vermi Composting, Nadep Composting and Organic Farming and application of various innovative rural and agriculture based technologies.

Research and Technical Assistance

It has been actively involved in providing technical assistance to voluntary organizations and their capacity building. AWSAR is also actively involved in imparting training to development professionals and institutions based on their requirements. AWSAR is at the panel of NIPCCD, CAPART and IIPA, New Delhi and imparted training to development professionals associated with them on various issues.
